How does the kayak tour work?
We pick you up in the city, very close to the city centre. Then we drive you by car to the river. The kayaking starts north of Kristiansand near Mosby, where the Otra River is wide, calm and surrounded by forest. From there you paddle south for about 2 to 2.5 hours, passing forested riverbanks, farmland, historic bridges and the outskirts of the city, before finishing at Kjøita - only a 15-minute walk from Kristiansand city centre. The river is flat freshwater, so the pace is relaxed.
Do I need kayaking experience to join?
No previous kayaking experience is needed. Before we set off, our local guide gives a short and friendly briefing on basic paddling and safety, and stays with the group for the entire tour. The kayaks are stable and easy to handle, and the river is calm freshwater - so the tour suits families, couples, solo travellers, cruise passengers and first-time kayakers from age 10 and up.
